Are you looking to find ideas what to write on your blog? There are many type of blog posts which you can write on your blog.
Writing blog posts is different from writing a book or any other publication. We read books by totally immersing ourselves into it but skim online blog posts.
Even though people skim the posts, Google loves long posts.

Long posts that answer all the questions around that topic have the tendency to rank better on Google. Also, different types of posts serve different purposes. Some posts are good for driving traffic, a few help you in capturing emails and others help you with affiliate marketing.
In simple words, your blog posts should have a goal attached to it.
Different types of posts also help you when you feel stuck with writer’s block.
Here are a few types of blog posts to write
1. How-to posts
How-to posts are always the most shared and loved posts. When you are looking for some idea online, you type howto…
Google provides answers for everything you search for. I search a lot about recipes and tech stuff.
There are many types of things you search online,
- How to grow your Facebook group
- How to change your car oil
- Or how to save money on a tight budget
These are just a few examples. You can also create your pillar posts around How to questions. These types of posts do well in most of the niches.
2. List posts
List posts always do well, and the reason is that we all love to skim the content. When you scroll down and find the most interesting point in the list, you read that one and move on.
List posts are liked by users as well as they are fun to write. I love writing list posts.
We all come across these types of lists,
- 101 ways to save money when you are broke
- 10 yoga poses to relieve back pain
- 45 money habits you need to grow wealth
These types of posts do really well on social media and have the tendency to go viral.
3. Reviews
Review posts are great for driving traffic and providing an opinion on any product. As a blogger or writer, you may be using any software or other product related to your own niche. You can provide reviews on those products.
Many people have created blogs on reviews and comparing products. Make sure when you review a product, provide price, pros, and cons of the product.
Give your opinion about why you like the product and what you don’t like about it. This will help you build credibility with your readers.
4. Compare myths vs. facts
Comparing myths vs. facts can be very engaging posts as most of us want to know whether what we believe and think is correct or not.
You can create these types of posts in any niche. There are always myths associated with everything.
Before writing posts like this, make a list of the myths in your niche. Then do some research and find out the facts to prove those myths wrong. Make sure all your facts and figures are correct. Otherwise, you may lose credibility.
5. Write a comparison post
A comparison post is similar to a review post, but you are reviewing two or more products together.
I love to read these types of products. Sometimes it becomes difficult to make a decision, especially with higher-priced products, but it becomes easy to compare the products and make a decision with a comparison.
Comparison posts have a tendency to go viral easily.
6. List of hacks
We all love shortcuts for our day to day lives.
Hacks can be useful in any niche. Compile a list of the hacks about the problem people encounter in your niche.
For example, I came across a post on Canva hacks. I learned a few tips from them, which has made designing a bit easier for me.
You can create a hacks list in any niche. We love to click on pins that are about hacks.
7. A post about frequently asked questions
These type of posts answer the questions which people want the answers for. If you already have the audience, you may be getting the questions in the emails and comments.
If your blog is new and doesn’t have an audience yet, you can use searches to find the people’s questions.
Type a topic in Google search; for example, I searched for How to make money online,
After a few website options, Google presented with more questions under the title People also ask ( give the screenshot)
You can also check Answerthepublic.com for the questions related to a topic.
Creating a post around the questions can become viral as it helps give answers to questions for which people search at different places.
8. Expert roundups
Every niche and industry has its influencers and leaders.
These are the people with huge social media following or are known for their expertise in their field. Create a post around these people and provide links to their social media profiles.
Expert roundups help you to establish as an industry expert. Your followers will love to follow people who are leaders in the niche.
9. Create a post giving your views on the current event
Current events could be the launch of products or any other type of current news.
Follow the current trend about the event on social media and research about the event. Then create a post about it and provide excerpts from Twitter or any other social media.
Also, write your own thoughts and ideas on the event. This will help establish credibility.
10. Blog series
Blog series is a great way to break a big topic into small lessons. Instead of writing a big post on a topic, you can go for a blog series.
Writing series and interlinking helps in improving SEO organically. For readers, it helps in building curiosity for the next blog post. You can write a weekly series or can write it daily or monthly.
Depends on how you want your series to be.
11. Interviews
Posts on interviews are also a great way to build authority.
Moreover, these type of posts gives a lot of information to your readers. A person who is an expert on his/her topic can help clear so many doubts on the specific topics.
Interviews are a great way to have engaging posts.
12. Checklists and cheatsheets
We all love checklists and cheatsheets. It gives you a sense of accomplishment when you have mark a tick on checklists.
You don’t have to figure out what you have accomplished and what needs to be done. Provide a useful resource to your readers, and they will love the content and would love to come again to check your posts.
