When we start anything, we are always in an enthusiastic mode. Getting started at that point is important. If you go on thinking of getting perfect before actually taking action, you will definitely procrastinate for a long time.
For example, you can go on perfecting your blog title but could not get it right. This will definitely hamper your motivation. To avoid this, I have these blogging tips for new bloggers that will help you to take action and build your own online space.
Blogging tips for new bloggers to speed up the blogging process
1. Just do it
I hope you have decided on some of the topics you want to start a blog about. If you have decided then don’t wait and start a blog. Taking action is the best thing you can do.
Don’t think too much about being perfect. You will not be perfect until you start and take initial steps. With practice, perfection will come. Remember the good old saying, Practice makes a man perfect.

2. Make a plan
Planing is an important part of your blogging journey. At least create a plan of one page. Write about how you want to make a blog and what your blog should contain. Creating a rough idea will help you give direction to the type of content you want to write.
3. Choose a niche
I know this is obvious that you need a niche to start a blog. You can’t write to everybody and on every topic. Some bloggers write on diverse issues, but their audience is their niche. They write for a specific audience, and whatever they write, resonates with the audience.
4. Start a self-hosted blog
There are some free platforms where you can start blogging. I started with one of the free platforms and learned the hard way that it is not a great option. Free platforms don’t give you enough control over the platform, while having a self-hosted blog gives you control over your blog.
For example, if you will start a free blog on WordPress, your blog name would be
YOURBLOGURL.WORDPRESS.COM
Whereas with a self-hosted blog, your blog name would be YOURBLOGURL.COM.
A self-hosted blog looks more professional, and of course, you can do a lot more with a self-hosted blog. You will have support if you get stuck somewhere.
Why start a free blog when you can start a self-hosted blog with as low as $2.85/month with Bluehost. Sign up with Bluehost now to get started with your blog.
5. Start with SEO friendly theme
This one is a no brainer that when you want to have a professional blog, you want to have an SEO friendly theme. It doesn’t mean at all that your theme will do SEO work for you. It means that the theme you use should be responsive to different screens.
Nowadays, people love to read on their smartphones, so your theme should be mobile responsive. Google also loves responsive themes.
I love Genesis themes, so I would recommend them. There are many other themes also which you can try.
I am also using the Bluchic theme. Bluchic themes are very feminine and functional themes.
6. Plan your content
Before writing anything, planning the content helps in keeping you to the core of the idea, and it will help you to elaborate on how your content can help readers.
I am guilty of this one on my other blog. I was just writing the content, and there was no planning. I am more intentional with this blog now, but I have to update a long list of blog posts on my older blog ( which is a pain). It is not a very pleasant thing to do ( for me).
I am not sure if it is I am, or you also feel the same, writing a fresh blog post is easy for me than to rewrite the old one.
Always plan how you will write your content, divide them into headings and subheadings. This will increase your on-page SEO value.
7. Write a catchy title
Writing a catchy title is very important. As humans, when we want to read something that clicks immediately with our mind and triggers our emotions.
If you go to Coshcedule headline Analyzer, you will get an idea of how good your headline is. It gives a score on 100 and higher the better. Studies have shown that positive headlines are always more clickable.
8. Write original content
There is so much content on the internet that thinking of everything new will be quite tricky, but writing everything in your own words is a possibility.
We all read blogs for getting blog post inspirations and for learning a to of things. It is okay to get the idea, but copying the content is not good. You may get penalized for plagiarism.
9. Write in a conversational tone
This one is also a part of writing useful blog posts. Please tell me how my blog post is. When I read my post after writing, I always think whether I am writing like talking to somebody or not?
Using simple sentences and straightforward vocabulary makes the post conversational. Use ‘YOU and I’ in the blog posts, which makes it easily relatable.
Moreover, tell stories because humans are more interested in stories and connect with them. Use active voice often.
10. Share on social media
Social media is an integral part of the online world. You can get a lot of traffic from social media. Successful bloggers advise not to stick with only one traffic resource, instead of diversifying your traffic streams.
Pinterest can become a massive part of your traffic game, and Facebook can initially help you get some traction by participating in different groups and communities.

11. Network with other bloggers
It is said that outreach and networking are required if you want to be successful in today’s blogging world.
For me, this is the most difficult part as I am horrible at networking. I always think what others will think about me if I write to them? But it is necessary. You cannot grow alone.
So, follow your fellow bloggers, share their posts, send them emails providing real value. I am also learning it the hard way.
12. Stay focused
If you are a person who loses the focus quickly, create a strict plan for shorter intervals. Write a plan with 2 – 3 tasks. Or focus on one thing and then move to the next one.
When we start something, we tend to get overwhelmed, and then we want to do everything all together. Writing your TO-DO list takes that burden of doing everything off from your brain.
Also, write down the time frame you will take to accomplish the task. It is crucial to stay focused and don’t let the overwhelm waste your precious time.
13. Focus on just one thing first
Focusing on one thing can help you in accomplishing a lot. When you concentrate on one thing and complete at least one task, it helps in creating a momentum.
You feel motivated and take the next task. For example, when you have just started your blog, you have to do a lot of tasks like:
- Install wordpress
- Customize the theme
- Create so many pages( about me, privacy policy, contact page etc)
- Write posts, interlinking proofreading
I mean there is a big list of tasks to complete. Thinking of doing them altogether overwhelms you. Complete them one by one and you will feel a sense of accomplishment.
14. Don’t ignore an Email list
Start collecting email addresses from day one. As it is said, money is in the email list. So start collecting email addresses and connect with your audience.
If you think of creating courses, having an email list will help you know that your readers want and their struggles. Creating a product to solve their problems will be easy.
15. Create a freebie option to grab emails
Create a freebie opt-in to grab the email addresses of your readers. Your freebie should help your readers to solve an immediate problem. There are a few types of freebies you can create:
- Checklists
- Case studies
- Planners and printables
- Short ebooks
- Free crash courses
16. Invest in your blog for the first few months
There is a lot of free information out there that it is difficult to know which one is genuine is which is wrong. It is a good idea to invest in some kind of course taught by those who are already successful.
You will not earn a lot in your initial months, but investing time and money into your blog can speed up the process.
17. Ask questions
Ask questions to your audience. Creating content around the problems faced by your readers will let them come again and again to your blog. It will also decrease your bounce rate and increase pageviews.
Moreover, this will help you to stay closer to your blogging niche.
17. Be patient
Yes, my friend, be patient because blogging is not get rich scheme. You have to put many hours figuring out what works and what not. Work patiently and learn from your mistakes.
Always go back and check your progress. I am very bad at this and have wasted a lot of time. In other words, audit your work.
18. Stick to your goals
Remember the blog plan we discussed in the beginning? Stick to it and create your blogging goals according to that plan. Stick to your goals and complete them one by one.
Don’t start many tasks together, just complete one and then start the next. Create deadlines for your blogging goals, and you will be better at building a successful blog.
20. Never give up
You may have to change the path but never change the destination. Here, your target is a successful blog. You may have to make adjustments along the way. You may have to change the way you write or the topics or ideas you write about but never change the primary goal.
You will definitely see success.
Always remember this quote from Nelson Mandela,
I never lose, I either win or learn, Nelson Mandela
